Your best engineers, on the work only they can do.
When senior engineers fill gaps in the team, a fixed fee earns less for every hour. Aptic reads timesheets, project budgets, and contracts together, and shows where hours, fees, and billable costs go. Engineering decisions stay with your licensed engineers.

Where Aptic helps
Three questions worth answering.
Our consultants and AI agents answer them from your own records, then act on the answer within the limits you set.
Are the right people doing the work?
See how senior and junior hours split across each project.
Which projects earn the fee they were priced at?
Compare what each project earns per hour by client and type of work.
Are outside costs passed on to clients?
Find subconsultant and other costs the contract lets you bill that never reached an invoice.
An example
Senior engineers busy. Fees earning less.
What these numbers suggest when read together.
-
Timesheets
Senior engineers spend 41% of their hours on drafting and routine checks
-
Project budgets
Fee earned per hour down 12% on fixed-fee projects
-
Hiring
Two junior roles open for five months, senior overtime up 25%
Recommended next step
Senior engineers are covering junior work while two roles stay open, so fixed-fee projects earn less for every hour. Fill the open roles first, move routine drafting and checks to junior staff or outside drafters, and compare fee earned per hour after two months.
Confidence: Medium-high. Timesheets show where senior hours go. How much fees improve depends on how soon the open roles are filled. The most expensive hours belong on the work only those people can do.
What connects
What Aptic reads in an engineering firm.
You choose what Aptic can see. Reading a source does not authorize changes.
- Project management: projects, phases, fees, and milestones
- Timesheets: hours by person, role, and project
- Contracts and subconsultants: fees, billable expenses, and outside costs
- Accounting and invoicing: invoices, expenses billed, and how long clients take to pay

Straight answers
Common questions.
Does Aptic check engineering work?
No. Calculations, designs, and anything that needs a licensed engineer's seal stay with your engineers. Aptic works on the business side: staffing, fees, costs, and billing.
Can Aptic invoice clients for outside costs?
Aptic can prepare invoices for the costs your contracts allow you to bill. Whether they wait for approval or go out on their own depends on the limits you set. Aptic never moves money.
Does it work with our project management software?
Aptic works with common project management, timesheet, and accounting tools, and with exports where there is no direct connection. See Integrations for details.
